"I used a combination of 4 layers of special glaze formula's to accent this large orb water fountain.

Many of my customers commented that it looks like hand-blown glass.. it's pretty exotic looking" says clay artisan Tim Christian Miller.

This large tabletop fountain has a beautiful 8" sphere with water gently falling over it. The sound is soft and gentle. You and easily set this on a large iron stand and turn it into a nice floor fountain.

If you want an instant conversation piece that's very exotic looking... this fountain is for you. It can be placed outdoors on deck and patio garden areas but should be brought indoors during the winter months. Add floating flowers& an overhead, accent light to create an exciting, night time water feature.

Ships with cobalt fountain bowl, cobalt sphere, ceramic pedestal, pump and tubing.

Here is the Orb Fountain in the green-ware stage. It has been taken out of the plaster molds and is drying. This one will take 5-6 days to dry, because it was poured very thick. (Looks pretty ugly... huh? Don't worry... it will soon be transformed.)

Next... it will be sanded smooth before going back in the ceramic kiln for a first firing. It's smoothed more with a damp sponge and left to dry. In about an hour it will be loaded  into the kiln to be fired at over 1800 degrees for 6-8 hours.

The kiln has cooled down after about 12 hours hours and is now opened. Here's the fountain in what is called bisque stage. It will be inspected for any rough surfaces and sanded and sponged smooth a second time.

It's now ready for the second stage which is glazing. (Applying ceramic glaze to create a shiny surface.) Four special coats of glaze will be applied to all of the fountain parts. It will dry again for a day and then go back into the kiln.

The Orb Fountain will fire for another 7-8 hours at about 100 degrees cooler. The kiln will then cool down for about a day and the fountain will be removed from the kiln.

Here's the Orb Fountain just out of the oven. Not bad huh? We will apply padding to keep it silent and test it before shipping it.

Well... that was a quick run down of how this fountain is made. Definetly a lot of work... but I think it's worth it. Did I mention that the mold for the fountain bowl weighs about 270 pounds when full of liquid clay? (Don't try making this one at home kids.... because you may not survive!) This fountain is built like a tank and can last a lifetime if you take care of it.
